This was my cat
This photo and the photo below are from 1958. Before he was my cat he was my sister Jacqui's cat. I called him Blackie; she called him Pretty Boy. I used to dress him in doll clothes.
Same Cat
Blackie, in the bathroom sink in the old family home in Methuen, Massachusetts. He was allowed outside and he froze to death behind a neighbor's house one winter. I found him. I was sad.
Me with a cat at my sister's house in New Hampshire in 1968 or 1969.
Misty and my mother in the house where I grew up. I'm amazed I don't have these elsewhere. Misty was a sweet cat. I graduated from high school in 1970, so I probably helped in caring for Misty.

This is a cat we had for less than a year in about 1995.
We had two cats at the time. This was in our house in Fairfield, Iowa. We had this kitten, whose full name was Bachelor Buttons and a black cat we called Ebony. I don't have a photo of Ebony at this time. We had to give them away the same year we got them because they had fleas and we didn't know how to get rid of fleas.
Buttons again with our daughter Erica
My daughter Erica and I shared a house with a woman who liked to rescue cats and dogs and then find homes for them. We helped find homes for them by putting up signs and putting ads in the newspaper. This woman had up to 30 pets at one time. Erica and I eventually stopped doing this. I moved back to Taos and Erica moved to California.
Adorable ginger kitten that we eventually found a new home for.
Erica holding an adorable kitten. I guess we called it Salt. I don't know why.
That's me holding a couple of adorable cats
These cats were declawed when we got them. We found a home for them but then the woman had a baby and gave them back to us. I think we found another home for them. I hope so. They were so loving and sweet. We always said if the people needed to give back the pets we would take them back. I think these were the only two we took back.
Another cat we took care of for a while. He's sitting on a cat tree.

Shakti and her brother
This is when they were Kittens. They were teeny when I got them from the Taos Pueblo. They were so small I could hold them both in one hand!

My husband and I got a new Cat March 16, 2007. His name is Sparky; he's almost one year old and he's a real sweetheart. We rescued him from a shelter. He was so happy we brought him home. He ran around and around the house for several days after we brought him home.

We kept them separated in different parts of the house for a couple of weeks; then they became good buddies.
